BREAKING NEWS: Governor Brown Signs California Lead Ban

Posted on October 11, 2013

BREAKING NEWS: Late this afternoon, California Governor Jerry Brown signed a statewide ban on traditional lead ammunition for hunting—Assembly Bill 711, sponsored by Assemblyman Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood).    The deadline for gubernatorial action was Sunday, October 13th

California is the first state in the nation to take such unnecessary action.

.

On September 9th, the California Senate passed a statewide ban on traditional lead ammunition for hunting—Assembly Bill 711, sponsored by Assemblyman Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood).   Since then, the bill has been awaiting action by Governor Jerry Brown.

The deadline for gubernatorial action is quickly approaching.  Governor Brown must sign or veto AB 711 by Sunday, October 13th or the bill will become law without his signature.  If Governor Brown signs the bill, California would be the first state in the U.S. to take such a misguided action.

“The coalition against this bill continues to grow, including every prominent sportsmen’s organization across the country, the  California Fish and Game Wardens’ Association, California county sheriffs and more,” said Evan Heusinkveld, USSA vice president of government affairs. “California hunters and recreational shooters have one last chance to call Governor Brown.  He must hear from sportsmen in opposition to AB 711 today.”

Take Action!  California sportsmen should contact Governor Brown at today.  Tell him to VETO AB 711.   Emails can also be sent at the following website:

As the government continues its budgetary shutdown, sportsmen across the country are still being shut out of numerous Federal hunting lands as the USSA reported earlier this week.
